Christmas 2013 - so far!

Christmas this year seems to have spilled out either side of December...

It kicked off on 30th November with the 'Duncan Road' Christmas do. Sadly without Helen, Bob, Matt or Rhiannon this year, but the remaining ten of us wandered out to Kelham Island Christmas market. We had lunch at the Harlequin (It was definitely a good idea to avoid the nearer pubs!) and came back to my place for the evening, where we decorated my tree.

The following week (December proper!) saw Christmas Lard Club at Pepe's, which I hadn't been to in ages, as well as the FFS (complete with Lego thanks to the Haynes) and Megan's mince pies afternoon on the Sunday.

The week after included putting up decorations round at Gillian's, brief Christmas drinks with folks from work before they headed off for curry (It's my own fault - I suggested we went somewhere different for a change!), and an even briefer visit to Edy's mince pies evening before a busy few days away.

Last weekend, the Chivers, Anne and I spent a couple of days at Birmingham Christmas markets. While not quite as big as expected, they were still pretty impressive. It was also nice to see more of Birmingham - we took a walk by the canal from our hotel into the centre of town.

If you were wondering what the building with all the circular patterns is, it's the amazing new library. It just opened in September and we spent quite a while looking around it on Sunday:

Unfortunately, due to varying degrees of illness and tiredness, we were all flagging by Sunday lunchtime. Fortunately we'd seen everything we wanted to. The others headed back to Sheffield while I went further down south to visit my parents. I visited my brother Oliver on Monday, and 'did' Christmas with Vick, Ady and my nieces on Tuesday:

I was only in work two days last week as a result of my Midlands-based excursion. They were followed by the 3FS (and giving Tani her birthday present of a naughty crocodile!) on Friday evening, and then Steve's 40th birthday bash on Saturday.

I have one more day of work (Hooray!), and then it's a reasonably full Christmas week in Sheffield - the first one I've had up here for a while.

Hope you're having a good time as well, whatever you're up to over Christmas! :o)
