Mark & Lou's wedding

Congratulations to Mark & Lou, who got married at the weekend! :o)

Thank you for inviting me to a great wedding (and thank you also to everyone who offered lifts to me and my bags over the weekend!)

On Friday afternoon I got a lift with the Chiverses through the eldritch fog of the wilds of Derbyshire, to my B&B, Thorpe Cottage (which was rather wonderful and does an amazing four-course breakfast).

On Saturday I had a bit of time to kill before the wedding, so I spent a pleasant morning wandering around Thorpe:

The wedding ceremony itself was at Beechenhill Farm, in a beautiful barn conversion with a mezzanine gallery. It was an intimate venue, with plenty of room to see what was going on without peering over rows of people's heads.

Everyone looked fabulous, but there was a wonderfully informal and relaxed vibe about the whole thing. This is definitely the first time I've seen the bride tweak the groom's nose in the middle of the vows ;o)

After the ceremony, there were photos outside followed by tea and shortbread. Then it was back on the coach to the reception, at Lower Damgate Farm. There was plenty of time for milling about and catching up with people (nice to see the Scaleses again!). Then food! Mmmm, hog roast...

After dinner were the speeches. Mark did a good job pretty much winging it. He was meant to be writing it during the meal - Hopefully he wasn't too distracted by the Lego I planted on the top table. Mr Staley helpfully provided a "citation needed" sign for use during his best man's speech ;o)

There was cutting of the cake, and the first dance, and after that the formalities were over. All that was left to do then was party and dance the night away...

On the Sunday morning I got a lift with Andy and Jacquie. We went back to the farm and helped to clear up. Well... in my case "helping" translated to "playing outside with Isabelle while other people did the work". It was nice to spend a bit of time with everyone again in the morning before saying our goodbyes and heading off our various ways.

A great wedding and a great end to my Easter break!
