Photo diary

It's been a fun couple of weeks socially.

First off, on Tuesday 11th, I went with a bunch of people (Clare, Ju, Ed, Krissy, Carey, Rick) to see 'Fire in the North Sky' as part of the Off the Shelf festival. It was a very atmospheric couple of hours of epic (and bonkers) Finnish folk tales and songs. It was so good, I bought the CD. Afterwards we went for drinks at the Head of Steam.

Wednesday was Lard Club, enjoying a giant east African platter of bread and meats at Frehiwet Habesha (no photos).

A week ago on Saturday, I arranged a trip to see the Herd of Sheffield Farewell Weekend at Meadowhell. It was great to see them all in one place for one last time. They've really brightened up the city this summer. Three Clarks, four Chiverses, three Haynes, one Henderson and I spent an hour saying goodbye to the Herd, before lunching in the Oasis and then hitting the Lego shop in the afternoon.

That evening was the annual Mr Fox dance at the Waggon & Horses. I went with the Chiverses and we met Dave and Erica there. It was as great as ever, and the weather held for us. It's like morris dancing meets The Wicker Man; what's not to love? :o)

On the Sunday, I went to Dave's birthday lunch - barbecue food at The Common Room, where there was a good sized crowd of us. We kept adding more seats! (Again, no photos)

Last week was the Steel City Beer Festival, at Kelham Island Museum for the third year running. I went on both the Thursday and the Friday evenings. I bumped into people from work and outside it. It was great to see Adam's folks there, and introduce them to the River Don Engine. (I never get bored of watching it.) It being the 42nd festival, there were some appropriately themed beers. ;o)

On Saturday, I enlisted child labour to help get the building work done... Tim, Roo and Tani came round to help build the Lego Disney Castle. There was much playing. We also visited Bricks & Bits and were joined later by B for pizza. We were about two-thirds finished on the construction work by bedtime!

The castle still isn't finished, but this is Ultimate Macy. Who is ace, but I decided she wasn't 'ultimate' enough. So I've added another 60 pieces to the set, giving her stompy leg armour, an extra pair of robo-arms and a couple more weapons. Just because. :o)
