Spoilers

Well, there we are. I have just spoiled my ballot paper for the first time in my life:

"None of you even tried to tell me why I should vote for you, so none of you get my vote."

I thought about adding, "...you useless fuckers," but I decided that would just be childish. Tempting though.

As I've said elsewhere: at least you had *that* choice!

I wish the press would stop referring to 'voter apathy' like people can't be bothered getting off the sofa. While I'm sure it is the case for some people, for many, not voting is their protest - it's just one that is (proabaly deliberately) misunderstood as it can be dismissed as laziness/apathy. The Conservatives defending the low turn out and claiming people have never had it so good (more or less) in the interview this morning just reinforced my view that some politicians are sticking their fingers in their ears/in the air and don't care about understanding low turn out /spolit ballots or doing anything about it.

I nearly did that too. Not one communication from the candidates, nothing at all about the referendum either. If it hadn't been for the polling card I'd have not thought that there was an election.

what you all seem to have missed is that the lack of communication to voters is
a) a money saving device - we are in a recession
b) a cunning way to make voting seem like you are 'in the know' - soon to be replaced with word-of-mouth communications of WHEN voting day is
c) because the people we vote for are fundamentally a bit shite

and I am tempted to add
d) all of the above [I have had some guiness to drink you know!] :)
