Mondays - Bah!

Like most of the population, I have a strong dislike for Mondays. It being cold outside, no one would let me open the windows today to actually let some air into our stuffy office (Can't wait for the new building with its amazing non-opening windows!). Plus, this morning I was expected to be an expert, not only in immigration law and forgery detection, but also in contract law, employment law, accounting, and several different types of geek IT jobs. I then decided that they weren't paying me nearly enough for all this.

The conclusion that they're not paying me nearly enough for all this may or may not be entirely unrelated to the £300+ gas bill that I've just been stung for. Having been trying to convince the bastards npower for the last eight months to actually charge me for my heating, they've finally taken the hint. And charged me for my heating for the last eight months.

I am currently trying to decide whether or not taking every other Monday off work represents a viable use of my annual leave...

Can you show proof that you have been trying to get a bill out of them? If so they'll let you pony up in installments as its their fuckup.

Also make sure you get the meter read for next month or you'll get a ridiculous estimate!

Sadly not - It was all done over the phone. It's okay though, especially since I don't have to pay it until after payday :o)

I'm fully expecting to get a ridiculous estimate next month, in which case I shall go and pester the nice people in the shop below for another reading. Things would be so much easier if I had access to the meter myself!

Regardless of the issues you had getting a bill, its very rare they don't allow you to agree to pay in installments if you just explain the situation to them.

I had a bill for £1856.52 last year from npower. That made me sick

I had a crappy gas bill as well. Not quite 300 quid but not far off.

Npower took 3 attempts to switch me to their Juice scheme (green electric). The problem seemed to be that cos I was already with them (Npower Yorkshire), they didn't know how to handle the switch.

Having finally managed it, they then failed to set up the DD and eventually landed me with an 18 month bill. They admited they had the DD detials and it was their fault so I'm now paying it off monthly.

On top of that, they've recently said that cos oil and gas have gone up, my wind powered electric must also go up. ???? So a while ago I hit the switch energy Co web sites, and should really check how that's all going....
