It was more seeing the extra footage on the news last night and some actual evidence of proper floods. Up until then, I hadn't seen any. I've revised my opinion from "That's just the sort of flooding we get every year back where I grew up" to "That's the sort of flooding we might get every 5-10 years back where I grew up". But I've seen flooding enough times before to just shrug my shoulders and go "Meh" unless anyone I know has been affected.
I am sympathetic to those who have been individually affected (and I mean seriously affected - I'm not counting myself, having had nothing more than a prolonged power cut). But that doesn't change the fact that I still think this city in general is ill-prepared and a bit crap when it comes to dealing with any sort of weather.
