So that was a weekend where the whole nation came together for that most British of events - standing out in the rain grumbling about the weather ;o)
I spent the weekend inLickHamstersLeckhampstead with
grok_mctanys and the Chivers, for the annual pig roast on Sunday and a Jubilee street party on the Monday. Although it was a bit damp, it mostly stayed dry while we were outside, and there were marquees to shelter under. We resisted the urge to retreat inside. It seemed odd having the pig roast in the middle of the day, rather than the evening, but it was as good as always. Monday was sunnier and a fun day with plenty of cake and deathactivities. Evie won a silver medal on the egg and spoon. Thanks to Thelma and Laurie for putting us up and feeding us again.
Having failed to win tickets to the Jubilee concert, I only saw the bigger London stuff on the telly. The boats looked impressive from what I saw on the news, and I watched the whole of the concert last night. Madness lighting up Buck House were brilliant - see below in case you haven't seen them. It was also rather heartwarming when the entire Mall chanted Prince Philip's name as a "get well soon" message.
