Lego update

I've been building. Actually I built this years ago, but it needs recording for posterity:

The Millennium Falcon is an enlarged (roughly twice the size) modification of this set. (Mos Eisley Cantina, in the background, is also my own custom build.) I added several missing features, such as the hidden compartments beneath the floor, and the gun that pops down under the hull in The Empire Strikes Back:
So I've got a record of how I built it, here's some shots of it under construction. Well, actually under destruction, but run backwards:
Here's the original set, reconstructed, for comparison:

Why undo the custom enlargement? Well, mostly because I bought the Battle of Hoth set when I was at Legoland last month:

Which is all very well, but there's something missing. So the Empire needed to dismantle the Falcon to reacquire the pieces to rebuild an AT-AT. There, that's much better!:

Leaving Star Wars aside for now, my other big purchase at Legoland was the Medieval Village. Bryony came over on Saturday afternoon to help me build it. It took us five hours. We were a pretty efficient building team, but we kept getting distracted by passing football crowds, Doctor Who soundtracks and... other Lego. The set is over 1,600 pieces and we were both very pleased with the impressive end result:
We were also distracted in our building when these guys kept turning up, muttering something about "Shire... Baggins!":

Not sure what that was all about. There's no Baggins here, just Mr Underhill and his friends:

Aaanyway, here's a close-up of two of my favourite features in the completed village set - a blacksmith's forge, complete with working, waterwheel-powered triphammer, and the bar at the inn, which includes a beer barrel and tap!:
All this building means that I have now finished constructing my Legoland spoils. Just to prove I didn't go too overboard in the shop, here's a shot of the small collection of souveniers I picked up:

Wait a sec, that fridge magnet (middle right of the photo above) can be improved:

P.S. -
grok_mctanys, you were right. This is pretty awesome.
P.P.S. - There's a Lego Store opening in Leeds on my birthday! It's like they knew! First 500 visitors get a free gift, and there's more freebies for the first 300 customers who spend £25+. Well, I was wondering what I was going to do with my day off. Might have to be an early train to Leeds :o)
