This has been my third 3-day weekend on the trot, which isn't bad. This particular one has been very full and quite expensive.

On Saturday I went to Sheffield Comic Con with Gillian. We bumped into Ju and Jamie on the way in, and several other friends throughout the day. I collected several more autographs and it was nice to have a decent chat with several of the guests. Special mention for Sophie Aldred (for taking up my challenge to doodle Ace with a baseball bat), Sylvester McCoy (for topping Capaldi's attack eyebrows with Morse code eyebrows when I asked him if he was glad we had another Scottish Doctor), Ian Liston (for being thrilled with Gillian's reimagining of his character) and Tony Head (for the photo sketch war with Eve Myles - "Should've gone to Specsavers!" "I did!"). We also saw most of a Doctor Who talk, some amazing costumes (pantomime horse AT-AT!), and a whole lot of stalls. I went straight from the convention to Dave & Helen (WANOLJ)'s 10th anniversary party, which filled in the evening rather nicely :o)

Yesterday I caught up at the cinema, watching Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For (meh, and BTW didn't Mickey Rourke's character die in the first film?) and Lucy (utter garbage, although it all goes a bit Akira towards the end). While I was out Meadowhell way, I picked up the Lego Mini Cooper. I haven't quite finished it yet, but it is already sporting personalised number plates - Thank you, Andy!:

Lego Mini Cooper - half built

Today I took the day off work and went with Krissy, Jacquie and the kids to Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester for the goblin's birthday treat. There was a quite unbelievable amount of queueing, but we enjoyed ourselves once we got in. We saw 4D Chima (and mocked the lions for being meanies), did the Kingdom Quest and Merlin's Apprentice rides, and built towers and racers. I was disappointed that the giant Lego pit in the middle has gone, replaced by four much smaller pits with a more limited selection of bricks. There's a new temporary Attack of the Clones display which was pretty cool. Mercifully I came out of the shop empty-handed. The kids were shattered as we headed home, but we'd had a good day.
