My Dad doesn't like noise and crowds either, and there was certainly a lot of both, but it was manageable. A lot busier than last year though, so it'll soon be a problem if it continues to grow at this rate. Sound-wise it works inside, except whenever you're at that awkward spot between two stages where the sound from one doesn't quite drown out the sound from the other.
The free tickets are very restricted - if I lived one door away up the hill, I wouldn't qualify. I get why that is - extend it too far and they'd end up having to give away half of all their tickets. So I recognise I'm lucky to have them.
Over now for another year, and we get our park back on Friday! :o)
