I think I must've somehow trapped a nerve at some point recently. Luckily it seems to have fixed itself today, but yesterday I ended up with stabbing pain shooting up my right leg whenever I tried to run.

Simple and obvious solution: Don't run.

And most of the time I don't, and it wasn't a problem when I was moving around normally. But occasionally I do need to run. Like when some eejit driver decides at the very last second to pull across another lane without either looking or indicating and turn down the road I'm crossing. For instance.

So, yeah. Sudden, near-incapacitating pain when I was about to get run over was more than a little alarming...

Sounds like a minor back injury that pinched a nerve a bit. The solution is a preventative one: training. If your body is fit you're less likely to pull something. Get to a gym dude.

Whereas I have aches and pains of my own this evening, as I accidentally shut my right index finger in my back door this evening - suppose it could have been worse, could have been my left hand (I was about to play violin)

Ow. I once (or possibly twice?) had a sudden, really bad coughing attack* whilst crossing one of the roads round the University, back when I'd not long been in Sheffield. It were a bit scary :-S

*I used to have an atrociously bad cough. Oddly enough, I haven't had any trouble from it since I moved away from my parents' village, which is down the road from a cement factory...

Much sympathy your way, as I suffered the same a year or so ago, and could barely cross the road without the help of two walking sticks. I have a few 'grumpy old git' walking sticks for loan should you need the loan of one! :=)

'Tis fine now. Walking wasn't a problem, just running. Seemed to be a two-day problem that magically fixed itself :o)

This is going to sound really creepy, but Reg and family did live in Pennyfford also, because that is what they call their house!
