After the success of the last one, I figured I really ought to get some more of these in the diary, before the evenings start getting too light. Also, I figure a bit more advance notice would be helpful, so here's the next three - all cunningly planned to avoid Sheffield Wednesday home fixtures (and hopefully, most people's holidays)! As usual, timings are somewhat provisional:

Sat 6th Feb - Perils in the Panopticon

Time for another Doctor Who evening, with a triple bill of all things Gallifreyan as Doctors Four and Five run into trouble with the Time Lords. Witness the Master as an emaciated walking corpse, trouble in the Matrix, the most infamous cliffhanger ever to upset Mary Whitehouse, the Doctor accidentally becoming President of the Time Lords, the first ever glimpse of the legendary TARDIS swimming pool, invasion, anti-matter, Amsterdam, and Colin Baker enduring hideous costume design even before he was cast in the title role...

- 4:00pm - The Deadly Assassin
- 6:00pm - The Invasion of Time
- 9:00pm - Arc of Infinity

Sat 20th Feb - Let's Kill Hitler

No, not another Doctor Who evening, but a quadruple bill of over-the-top Nazi-killing mayhem, starting off with Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds before moving on to Nazis from space with Iron Sky and rounding off the night with the zombie-killing insanity that is the Dead Snow double bill. Needless to say, this isn't going to be child-friendly. It's also an ambitious schedule, with no time to stop while everyone gets takeaway. I'll get pizzas in, and feel free to bring food (and beer!) with you. It says something when the Tarantino film is the sedate, sensible one of the evening...

- 4:00pm - Inglourious Basterds
- 7:00pm - Iron Sky
- 9:00pm - Dead Snow
- 10:30pm - Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead

Sat 12th Mar Sat 27th Feb - Studio Ghibli

I promised a Studio Ghibli evening ages ago, and several of you have reminded me, so I'm guessing there's a call for one! And why not? - Weird and magical adventures, memorable characters and creatures, and some of the most gorgeous traditional animation you'll ever see. If folks are interested, I'll do more than one, because narrowing their films down to just one evening's worth is an impossible task. For now, I'm going to go with the first three I saw. (All PG-rated BTW, so small-person-friendly)

- 4:00pm - Castle in the Sky
- 6:30pm - Spirited Away
- 9:00pm - Princess Mononoke

I'll post reminders of the later two evenings nearer the time. As always, a vague idea of numbers is useful, so let me know if you're thinking of coming along to any or all of the above.

EDIT: Ghibli evening moved forward as apparently the Bug is having a birthday party on 12th March. I've moved it to the one remaining Saturday before Easter with no home match. Yes, that means big screen evenings two weekends running - crazy times! ;o)

I'm up for the Dr Who and Studio Ghibli (especially Studio Ghibli <3 <3 <3). Will have to see how my brains are nearer the time before committing to violent Nazi stuff.

Thank you Uncle Rich! :-)

P.S. would a long-term loan of my double folding armchair with cup holders help? If so I'll try to get someone to bring it round for you. I'm aware of my tendency to hog sofa due to floppy ouchy body needing as much rest/support as possible, but feel bad for anyone struggling on floor :-/.

I'm thinking about coming on Mar 12 with P. I want to introduce him to some of my longest friends. I just need to arrange a place for us to stay that night ... I'm working on that.

I've had to move the Studio Ghibli evening on account of a clash with the Bug's birthday party. Sorry! Still hope to see you when you visit.

Shame.

We'll probably not come up that weekend then ... another time though, Patch won't have met my friends till he's come up to Sheffield with me some time.
