Movies! Movies! Movies!

Since it's still hot enough that "anyone not wearing 2,000,000 sunblock is gonna have a really bad day"*, I decided to spend a large chunk of my Sunday in a nice air-conditioned cinema.
First up was Superman Returns, which was way, way too long. The middle section was fine - a wonderfully OTT Lex Luthor threatening to destroy continents whilst ticking off every secret lair cliché in the supervillain handbook (Basement in a crumbling mansion? Check. Private glass-bottomed yacht with a giant library and opera music? Check. Primaeval island off the coast of Metropolis? Check.) It was the other 18 hours that was the problem.
The film took forever to get going. It had a pointless drawn-out ending tacked on. And introducing a brand new, experimental spacecraft, only to forget all about it and NOT have Lex Luthor steal it as part of his Diabolical MasterplanTM, is just unforgivable.
To make up for this disappointment, I also saw Pirates 2: Tentacular Spectacular again. Yeah, I know it's got an equally over-indulgent running time, but at least Pirates manages to cram in enough action and plot contortions to fill that time properly. I spotted a few things I missed the first time around. Such as Barbossa's presence in the next room when Captain Jack & Co. visited Tia Dalma early in the film. And the fact that the Black Pearl gets dragged down to the depths (more or less) intact, rather than being splintered apart like the other ships attacked by the Kraken. It'll be back...:o)
Good selection of trailers:
- Cars is out this Friday - Anyone planning on going to see it at the weekend?
- Despite my better judgement, I can't help wanting to see My Super Ex-Girlfriend. It just looks fun :o)
- There was yet another new trailer for the legendary Snakes on a Plane (What is that, three now?). But I'm still none the wiser as to which tail belongs to which snake on the poster.
And finally...

18) Sorry, I've just got one question: Whose map is Britain using when it completely ignores the United Nations and decides to invade Iraq? Or do you think it's more diplomatic to bend to the will of a superpower and politely take part in 'Vietnam: The Sequel'?

20) A: How was it?
B: It was great. She showed me all the wallpaper and where everything is going to go.
A: Well, that's nice.
B: And then she brought me in the back room where she took all her clothes off.

* No, guessing that one doesn't get you any bonus points!

And finally...
- Pick 20 of your favourite movies.
- Then pick one of your favourite quote/s from each movie.
- Post the quotes in your journal.
- Have those on your friends list to guess what the movie is.
- Either strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified, or place the guesser's user name directly after the quote.
