Ed says "Run fdisk in a dos prompt. (CHANGE NOTHING!) This should let you see the hard disk and any partitions etc... If you can't see anything, speak to the Goth for she is wise in the ways of geek"

"Operation: Run fdisk" has failed at the first hurdle. I have vague memories of this tool existing. My computer, on the other hand, does not...

Open the case and check that none of the cables to it are loose. I stubbed my toe on one of my PCs recently and shortly afterwards it started complaining that the primary graphics card wasn't getting enough power.
