The phones came back on at some point overnight. Still no power, although the lights on in the distance seem to be creeping ever closer to Chez Rich.
Huge thanks to
longhairedhippy and
soul_rider for letting me use their fridge space and their shower, and feeding me stew and dumplings last night :o)
It was good to see so many people yesterday evening, but sad that it was because we were all refugees. I hope no one's suffered too much or had anything at home damaged. Let's hope for a dry day and for things to get back to normal again soon!

Date: 2007-06-27 02:39 pm (UTC)I am sympathetic to those who have been individually affected (and I mean seriously affected - I'm not counting myself, having had nothing more than a prolonged power cut). But that doesn't change the fact that I still think this city in general is ill-prepared and a bit crap when it comes to dealing with any sort of weather.
