Also, I'm very amused that otter_girl was right about the bees: "So long, and thanks for all the nectar!" Almost as amused as I am by the Daleks knowing who Harriet Jones is :o)
Might want to add Dr. Who spoiler to the cut title, just in case. Not everyone will have seen it yet
Well, I'm sure they've got a retcon already prepared, afterall there's the whole River backstory still to address.
He's either going to regenerate back into himself, Rose is going to time travel back down her personal timeline or being 1 second out of synch with the rest of the universe will return him back to his original state
I figure anyone who sees the post title and the tag will know not to click on the cut if they haven't seen it yet.
I was wondering about River, as she certainly seemed to have met Doctor no. 10. But I'm not entirely convinced they're going to do a retcon. This could well be the real deal...
I still don't really understand how the Watcher 'worked'. And it wasn't really an interim stage, it was a separate entity until it merged with the doctor during his regeneration.
As for Valeyard, wasn't he just a distillation of the Doctor's worst aspects? A faulty clone rather than a regeneration?
The Watcher was never really explained properly in the story, but the BBC website describes him as "a wraith-like intermediate stage between the Doctor's fourth and fifth incarnations".
I've not seen ToaTL (nice acronym!), but the site has this to say:
"The Valeyard...is an amalgamation of all the Doctor's evil, and is between the Doctor's 12th and final [13th] incarnation. [This distinction would only be made if the Valeyard is different from the Doctor's 12th and 13th selves. Thus, he seems to be of the same nature as Cho-Je (Planet of the Spiders) or the Watcher (Logopolis), a projection of the Doctor's future self, one which might not be like what the 13th incarnation actually turns out to be."
Back with Journey's End (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/episodes/S4_13), my latest theory is that the Doctor's regeneration somehow blasts his 11th incarnation apart from the 10th, out of the weird Dalek time pocket and back into the normal universe.
Doctor no.10 might stay in the Medusa Cascade, or he might not. I reckon this could be another Doctor-lite episode and mainly focussed on the (many!) companions.
The Christmas/next year specials could then take place with Tennant, before we catch up with Doctor no.11.
But hey, my theories on what's going to happen change on an almost daily basis at the moment :o)
I wonder if his hand might play a part, it was getting a fair bit of screen time. Genetic template blahdeblah.
We still don't know what's up with Donna but I'd be tempted to say that the 'something new' might just be an ability to warp time and space around her to revert the Doctor back to his 10th incarnation.
Oh, one last thing. The only time I know that the Earth was moved was during Trial of a Timelord, coincidentally featuring one Mr. Valeyard so you may be right. Also I picked up on Sarah-Jane's address. 'Bannerman Drive' as in Delta and The Bannermen (7th Doctor), not that I can remember what exactly happened, other than there was a group of space tourists not unlike Voyage of the Damned as well as numerous mentions of bees.
The bigger question now is whether Tennant's doing series 5/31 or not? Were all those hints that he might be leaving just for the benefit of this finale?
The original reports way back when said the Tennant would be doing some of 10.4/5/31 but not all of it. I'd say that's probably still going to be the case
Well not a retcon as such but something to mean that the regeneration is reversed.
As to how they kept it quiet, well, DT saying he was doing 3 feature length episodes and a bit of season 5 10.4/11.1 would keep the rumours of another regeneration at bay.
I knew it! It was the only logical explaination :)
Also... Davros!! I was convinced it was going to be Davros at the end of the Christopher Eccleston series, so nice to see him finally showing his latexy face again.
Another Who commenter suggested that the very fact that the beeb have managed to keep the regeneration quiet suggests that Master Tennant's number is not yet up.
And dammit on the bees. I knew it was going to happen, doesn't mean I'm happy that it did.

I guess that counts as canon.
